College football is back, and bettors apparently did not need a warm-up week.
With the opening Saturday of the 2026 season approaching, the early college football public betting splits are already heavily tilted in several games. We are seeing everything from 99% of spread money piling onto one side to massive discrepancies between sportsbook moneyline action and the probabilities being traded on Kalshi.
CLEATZ tracks the latest CFB betting percentages, handle, line movement, and prediction-market probabilities throughout the week. You can follow every game on our live College Football Public Betting dashboard.
Here are the Week 0 numbers that stand out most right now.
Eastern Michigan Is the Biggest Spread Public Darling
Sacramento State at Eastern Michigan
- Eastern Michigan -9.5: 99% of spread handle
- Kalshi: Eastern Michigan 76% to win
- Under 52.5: 68% of total handle
There isn’t a more lopsided spread on the Week 0 board.
Eastern Michigan is taking an enormous 99% of the money on the spread at -9.5, making the Eagles the most heavily backed point-spread side currently tracked by CLEATZ.
Kalshi is considerably less extreme, pricing Eastern Michigan at roughly a 76% probability to win outright.
That distinction matters. The sportsbook market is asking whether Eastern Michigan can cover nearly double digits. Kalshi is simply pricing which team wins the game.

Florida State Has One of the Strangest Splits on the Board
New Mexico State at Florida State
- Florida State -31.5: 97% of spread handle
- Kalshi: Florida State 98% to win
- New Mexico State +2000: 99% of moneyline handle
Yes, you read that correctly.
Bettors are overwhelmingly backing Florida State -31.5 against the spread, while Kalshi is pricing the Seminoles at approximately a 98% chance of winning the game.
And yet New Mexico State at approximately +2000 is attracting 99% of the sportsbook moneyline handle.
It is one of the best examples of why ticket percentages and handle need context. Nobody is confusing New Mexico State with the favorite. The massive potential payout on a 20-to-1 underdog can attract outsized dollars even while virtually every other market says Florida State should cruise.
The spread market is much less conflicted: 97% of the money is laying the 31.5 points with FSU.
USC Is Expensive and Getting More Expensive
San Jose State at USC
- USC spread handle: 72%
- USC line: -35.5 → -38.5
- Over 59.5: 99% of total handle
- Kalshi: USC 98% to win
USC was never going to be cheap in this matchup. The market has decided it still wasn’t expensive enough.
The Trojans have moved from approximately -35.5 to -38.5, while USC’s share of spread handle has climbed from essentially nothing at open to 72%.
But the most lopsided number in this game is actually the total.
An incredible 99% of total handle is currently on Over 59.5.
Kalshi traders are also treating the result itself as close to a foregone conclusion, with USC priced at roughly a 98% win probability.
If the current action holds, San Jose State–USC may be the clearest Week 0 example of bettors expecting a favorite not just to win, but to contribute heavily to a high-scoring game.
Virginia Is Quietly Taking Serious Money
NC State at Virginia
- Virginia -5.5: 84% of spread handle
- Spread handle has moved 0% → 84%
- Under 53.5: 84% of total handle
Virginia may be the most interesting favorite on the board.
The Cavaliers are now receiving 84% of spread handle at -5.5, after beginning with essentially none of the tracked money.
The total tells another story.
Under 53.5 is also receiving 84% of the money, setting up a fairly clear market narrative: Virginia wins and the game stays relatively controlled.
Whether that remains the consensus as kickoff approaches will be worth watching.
UNLV Has One of Week 0’s Strongest Line-Movement Signals
Memphis at UNLV
This one deserves attention because the money and the line have been moving in the same direction.
- UNLV spread handle: 0% → 74%
- Opening spread: UNLV -3.5
- Current spread: UNLV -5.5
That is a meaningful move.
UNLV has gone from a 3.5-point favorite to -5.5, while its share of spread handle has climbed all the way to 74%.
Public betting percentages alone don’t automatically tell us whether a wager is sharp. But when a growing share of money is accompanied by a two-point move in the same direction, the market is worth monitoring.
This is exactly the kind of matchup where the CLEATZ College Football Picks and Market Signals page can add another layer of context.
Jacksonville State vs. North Dakota State Is Split Across Markets
Jacksonville State at North Dakota State
- Jacksonville State +7: 79% of spread handle
- North Dakota State ML: 90% of moneyline handle
- Kalshi: North Dakota State 71% to win
- Under 46.5: 67% of total handle
This may be the best example on the Week 0 board of bettors liking both teams, at different prices.
North Dakota State is receiving overwhelming moneyline support and is priced by Kalshi at roughly a 71% probability to win.
But bettors taking the points overwhelmingly prefer Jacksonville State +7, which is attracting 79% of spread handle.
In other words, the market is effectively saying:
North Dakota State wins. Jacksonville State keeps it close.
The Under is also taking the majority of total money, which fits that same basic script.
TCU and the Under Are Popular Against North Carolina
North Carolina at TCU
- TCU -7.5: 75% of spread handle
- Under 47.5: 96% of total handle
- TCU ML: 63% of moneyline handle
- Kalshi: TCU 74% to win
TCU enters Week 0 as another team where the sportsbook and prediction markets largely agree.
The Horned Frogs are taking 75% of spread money at -7.5, while Kalshi is pricing TCU at approximately 74% to win outright.
But the strongest position in the matchup isn’t TCU.
It’s the Under 47.5, which has attracted a massive 96% of total handle.
That makes North Carolina–TCU one of the most lopsided total markets currently on the board.
Don’t Confuse Kalshi Probability With Public Bet Percentage
One quick clarification is important when comparing the CLEATZ sportsbook data with Kalshi.
A sportsbook handle percentage tells us what percentage of the tracked dollars have been wagered on a particular side.
A Kalshi percentage is different. It represents the price of the prediction-market contract and therefore the market’s approximate implied probability of that team winning.
So when CLEATZ shows:
USC – 98% on Kalshi
that does not mean 98% of Kalshi users picked USC. It means the market is pricing USC as approximately a 98% favorite to win the game.
Combining the two datasets is useful precisely because they measure different things.
