The Chiefs Have the Crowd. Seattle Has the Spread-Money Edge.
Kansas City at Seattle • Sunday, October 25, 2026
8:20 p.m. ET / 5:20 p.m. PT • Lumen Field • NBC
Kansas City arrives unbeaten at 5-0. Seattle is 3-3. Yet the Seahawks enter Sunday Night Football as the favorite, setting up a matchup where the standings, ticket count and betting price tell different stories.
The public is leaning toward Patrick Mahomes and the points. Seattle has the larger share of spread dollars. Add Kenneth Walker III’s return to face his former team and significant injuries on both sides, and this becomes a game that deserves more than a quick “take Mahomes as an underdog” reaction.
Start with the NFL odds comparison and public betting tracker. Our Friday snapshot points toward a close game, with the difference between 2.5 and 3 especially important.
SNF Odds: Seattle Is Favored Below a Field Goal

| Seahawks moneyline | -142 | DraftKings |

Public Betting: Kansas City Leads Tickets, Seattle Leads Spread Dollars
| Tracked selection | Bets | Handle |
|---|---|---|
| Chiefs +2.5 | 69% | 43% |
| Seahawks -2.5 | 31% | 57% |
| Over 42.5 | 73% | 70% |
| Under 42.5 | 27% | 30% |
| Chiefs moneyline | 70% | 74% |
| Seahawks moneyline | 30% | 26% |
Seattle’s spread handle exceeds its ticket share by 26 percentage points. That implies larger average wagers on the Seahawks within the tracked sample. It does not identify the bettors or establish a professional-money signal.
The moneyline tells a different story: Kansas City leads both measures. There is no contradiction. A bettor can favor the Chiefs outright while another prefers Seattle to cover a short spread; these are separate markets with different payouts.
Our takeaway is to investigate Seattle’s matchup case, not to assume that fading the popular team is a strategy by itself. For the broader slate, see the CLEATZ NFL hub and NFL picks tool.
Injuries: Friday’s Designations Change the Conversation
The Chiefs’ official report rules out Rashee Rice, Jaylon Moore and Brashard Smith. L’Jarius Sneed and Cooper McDonald are questionable. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have no final game designation, although Kelce was limited in practice with an ankle issue.
The Seahawks’ Friday report rules out Zach Charbonnet, Drake Thomas and Chazz Surratt. Nick Emmanwori, DeMarcus Lawrence, Uchenna Nwosu, Connor O’Toole and backup quarterback Drew Lock are questionable. Seattle also confirms Chiefs tackle Josh Simmons went on injured reserve.
Charbonnet’s roster activation earlier in the week should not be confused with clearance to play Sunday. His game status is out. That matters for anyone building a Seattle rushing projection around his return.
My matchup read is that Kansas City’s protection and receiving options face added strain, while Seattle’s defensive absences could reduce its ability to exploit those problems. Follow the NFL injury tracker and Sunday’s inactive list before treating either side’s lineup as settled.
Kenneth Walker’s Return: A Real Matchup Beyond the Storyline
Walker is now Kansas City’s lead back, and his return is more than a familiar face visiting Lumen Field. Seattle’s run-defense preview lists him at 665 rushing yards and 6.3 yards per carry through five games. It also notes that Seattle is allowing 3.5 yards per carry and has gone 35 games without conceding an individual 100-yard rushing performance.
Those numbers describe a strong offense-versus-defense test. The streak is context, not a ceiling on what Walker can produce.
For Kansas City, successful early-down runs would reduce the burden on a depleted passing attack and keep the offense out of obvious passing situations. For Seattle, containing Walker without excessive help would leave more defenders available to handle Mahomes’ passing options. The questionable defenders make that balance worth revisiting Sunday.
The Number: Why -2.5 Is Different From -3
A three-point Seattle victory cashes -2.5 and pushes -3. A three-point Kansas City loss defeats +2.5 and pushes +3. Before comparing payouts, make sure you are comparing the same spread.
The provider’s opening baseline shows Seattle -3 becoming -2.5, with the total moving from 44.5 to 42.5. Those are opening-to-current comparisons, not proof of an overnight move or a reaction to a specific injury. Use the NFL odds movers to check the history and timing.
That total move also explains why a current under bettor is accepting a tougher threshold than someone who took the opening number. Earlier movement can support further research, but it cannot establish value at the new price.
Weather and Props: Shop the Threshold Before the Story
The Friday forecast calls for roughly 51 degrees, light rain and a 66% rain chance, with wind around 3 mph and gusts near 10. This is not an obvious severe-wind setup. Check the NFL weather report again Sunday before building a total pick around conditions.
Mahomes’ passing-yard line illustrates why comparison matters: DraftKings lists 222.5, while FanDuel lists 217.5 in the same prop snapshot. An under bettor would prefer the higher threshold if the price and rules were otherwise comparable; an over bettor would prefer the lower one.
Rice’s absence makes target distribution worth watching, but extra opportunity does not guarantee efficient production. Likewise, Charbonnet being out does not make every Seattle rushing over attractive. Check the passing, rushing and receiving prop boards against the final lineup.
CLEATZ Pick: Seahawks -2.5, Conditional on Defensive Availability
Editorial lean: Seattle -2.5 at -118 or better. The case rests on its run defense making Kansas City work through a passing attack missing Rice and dealing with tackle absences. Staying below a field goal is part of the pick.
Condition: Wait for the inactive list. I would want Emmanwori available and at least one of Lawrence or Nwosu active before taking this position. If those conditions fail, pass.
Price limit: Do not carry this recommendation over to -3 or pay more than -118 at -2.5. This is an editorial matchup lean, not a model-derived edge.
Main risk: Walker keeps Kansas City ahead of the chains, Mahomes handles the protection issues, and Seattle’s offense fails to create enough separation. The spread-money split supports attention to Seattle; it does not solve those risks.
For Traders: Check the Executable Win Price
The displayed Novig and Kalshi estimates put Seattle around 57–58% to win. Those are market-implied figures, not independent forecasts. The odds page also flags Novig’s headline quote as cached, so verify the live market before using it for a comparison.
Compare the actual offer, available size, fees and settlement rules. A displayed probability or midpoint may not be the price at which you can buy. A small apparent difference can disappear once execution costs are included.
If you are evaluating platforms, the Novig promo code guide and Polymarket promo code guide explain current offers and eligibility. Evaluate the game price first, then the promotion.
Before Kickoff: Recheck Seattle’s Defense and the Spread
The strongest reason to consider Seattle is the matchup between its defensive front and Kansas City’s available offense. The strongest reason to wait is that Seattle still has meaningful injury questions of its own.
Keep the pick tied to the lineup and the number. If either changes, the decision should change with it.
