College Football Week 9 is giving us a cleaner betting story than some recent slates: underdog spread money, several aggressive Over positions, and a few totals where bigger wagers are moving the opposite way from the ticket count.
Washington, Arkansas and Iowa State are all attracting significantly more spread money than their ticket shares suggest. Meanwhile, Washington-Nebraska and Missouri-Arkansas are among the strongest Over-money games on the board.
Below, we’re using the live CFB public betting splits, college football lines, Odds Movers and CFB weather to isolate the Week 9 markets worth watching.

Three Numbers Worth Knowing
Washington at Nebraska
Spread movement has also come toward Washington.
Stanford +23.5
Louisville is expected to win, but bigger wagers want the points.
Marshall-ODU Under
One of the strongest total-handle positions on the Week 9 board.
Notable Week 9 Line Movement
| Matchup | Open | Current | Move |
|---|---|---|---|
| Washington @ Nebraska | NEB -9.5 | ~NEB -7.5 | 2 pts toward Washington |
| Miami @ North Carolina | MIA -16.5 | -14.5 | 2 pts toward UNC |
| Appalachian State @ Georgia Southern | GASO -3.5 | -5.5 | 2 pts toward GASO |
| Auburn @ Ole Miss | MISS -11.5 | -13.5 | 2 pts toward Ole Miss |
| Army @ Memphis | Total 56.5 | 59.5 | 3 pts Over |
The moves aren’t massive this week, but several are lining up with meaningful betting splits.
Biggest Week 9 Money Gaps
The strongest Week 9 signals aren’t necessarily the teams with the highest handle. They’re the markets where the money percentage is much larger than the ticket percentage.
| Market | Bets | Handle | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stanford +23.5 at Louisville | 39% | 71% | +32 |
| Iowa State +7.5 vs. Oklahoma State | 52% | 83% | +31 |
| Marshall-Old Dominion Under 44.5 | 61% | 91% | +30 |
| Washington State-SDSU Under 49 | 44% | 69% | +25 |
| Arkansas +9.5 vs. Missouri | 66% | 84% | +18 |
A large gap doesn’t automatically mean professional action. It tells us that the average wager on that side is larger — and that’s most useful when the actual line moves the same direction.
Washington-Nebraska: Dog Money and Over Money
Washington is one of the clearest Week 9 underdog positions.
The Huskies currently have roughly:
70% of spread tickets
86% of spread handle
Nebraska opened around -9.5 and has shortened toward the -7.5/-8.5 range across the market.
The total is even more one-sided:
Over 50.5: 84% bets / 96% handle
So this is one of the rare Week 9 games where the ticket count, larger wagers and spread movement are largely telling the same story:
Washington + the points, with bettors expecting scoring.
Prediction markets still make Nebraska roughly a 73%-74% favorite to win outright, so bettors appear more interested in Washington covering than necessarily winning.
Stanford-Louisville: Bigger Money Is Taking a Huge Number
Louisville is expected to win comfortably.
Prediction markets price the Cardinals around 93% to win outright.
But the spread money is much less enthusiastic about laying more than three touchdowns.
Louisville -23.5: 61% bets / 29% handle
Stanford +23.5: 39% bets / 71% handle
The total presents another clear position:
Under 60.5: 84% bets / 92% handle
This is a useful distinction.
The market has little doubt about the winner.
The disagreement is over how large the margin will be and how many total points get scored.
Missouri-Arkansas: Dog Money, Over Money and Rain
Arkansas +9.5 currently has:
66% of spread tickets
84% of spread handle
So both the public and the bigger wagers prefer the Razorbacks getting points.
The total is even more concentrated:
Over 50.5: 88% bets / 95% handle
And the total has climbed from roughly 47.5 to around 49.5-50.5.
That’s interesting because the current Fayetteville forecast includes meaningful rain chances during the game.
So the setup is:
Arkansas money + Over money + rising total + possible rain
That’s the type of weather-market conflict worth checking again Saturday morning.
Week 9 Weather Watch
The CFB Weather Report currently has nine games flagged.
The biggest concerns:
- UAB at South Florida: winds around 15 mph, gusts near 21.
- Appalachian State at Georgia Southern: winds around 15 mph with gusts near 23.
- Louisiana Tech at South Alabama: rain probability around 83% at kickoff.
UAB-USF has already seen its total move from about 43.5 to 42.5, while Appalachian State-Georgia Southern has actually moved up from 54.5 to 56.5 despite the wind.
That second game is the more interesting disagreement.
Week 9 Playoff Stakes
We’re far enough into the season that these weekly betting games now directly affect the postseason picture.
The latest College Football Playoff Projections have Miami projected as the No. 1 seed, Utah holding a projected Big 12 bye, and BYU and Texas sitting in first-round positions.
Texas and Kentucky moved into the projected field this week, while Ole Miss and Tennessee fell to the bubble.
That gives games involving Miami, Texas, BYU and other contenders a much bigger context than simply Saturday’s spread.
Three Week 9 Markets to Watch
Washington + the points at Nebraska: 86% spread handle plus movement toward the Huskies.
Stanford +23.5 at Louisville: only 39% of tickets but 71% of the spread money.
Missouri-Arkansas Over: 95% of handle with the total already moving higher despite rain concerns.
That’s enough for Week 9.
The goal isn’t to catalog every game on the board. It’s to find the handful of markets where tickets, dollars, movement or weather are telling us something different.
