How to Read College Football Championship Odds

If you’re new to futures betting, American odds can look confusing at first glance. In this table, all teams are listed with plus-money odds (+), meaning every team is considered an underdog relative to an even-money bet. That’s typical in a futures market with 130+ teams.

Quick translation:

  • +700 → Bet $100, win $700 profit
  • +10,000 → Bet $100, win $10,000 profit

The shorter the odds, the more likely sportsbooks believe that team is to win — and the smaller the payout.

The Avg Odds column represents the average line across:

  • FanDuel
  • DraftKings
  • BetMGM

Use the Best / Worst columns to shop for value. Even small differences (+50 to +100) can significantly impact longshot payouts.

Cleatz Tip: A wide gap between Best and Worst odds often signals disagreement among sportsbooks, which can highlight teams the market hasn’t fully priced yet.

Current Favorites to Win the CFP National Championship

  • Ohio State (+633 avg)
    The clear consensus favorite and the only team priced below +700 — signaling real separation from the field.
  • Notre Dame & Texas (~+700)
    Tightly grouped behind Ohio State, suggesting a legitimate three-team race at the top.
  • Indiana (+750)
    One of the more interesting risers — reflecting a program now viewed as a serious Big Ten contender.
