The Public Likes Chicago. Covering Is Another Question.
Buccaneers at Bears • Sunday, November 8, 2026
8:20 p.m. ET • Soldier Field • NBC / Peacock
Chicago has the better record, home field and plenty of believers. The 6-2 Bears host the 3-5 Buccaneers on Sunday night, with both teams bringing winning streaks into the matchup. Chicago has won three straight; Tampa Bay has won two.
The interesting betting question is how much separation to expect. Chicago can be the likelier winner while Tampa Bay remains attractive with the points. Our starting point is a conditional Bucs +6.5 lean, with one important injury check before making it a bet.

For Tampa Bay backers, +6.5 turns a six-point defeat into a win rather than a push. It still loses on a seven-point defeat. Do not treat it like getting a full touchdown, or pay any price simply to improve the spread.
Public Betting: Bears Tickets Outpace Bears Dollars
| Tracked selection | Bet % | Handle % |

| Bears -6 | 83% | 54% |
| Buccaneers +6 | 17% | 46% |
| Over 47.5 | 72% | 69% |
| Under 47.5 | 28% | 31% |
| Bears moneyline | 89% | 79% |
| Buccaneers moneyline | 11% | 21% |
Public betting board update: November 7, 10:07 a.m. ET. These shares describe the tracked sportsbook sample. The spread sample is listed at six points.
Chicago leads spread handle, but only narrowly compared with its ticket advantage. Tampa Bay’s 29-point handle-minus-bets gap indicates larger average wagers in that sample; it does not establish who placed them. Chicago also leads the outright market, while the over attracts both ticket and dollar majorities.
Use those differences to frame the handicap, not settle it. A popular favorite can cover, and a less popular underdog can still be overpriced.
The Matchup: Tampa Bay Cannot Rely on the Run Alone
The Buccaneers’ team preview reports 584 rushing yards across their last two games. That production gives Tampa Bay a route to controlling possessions, but Chicago presents a tougher test: the same preview lists the Bears fourth in rushing yards allowed.
Jeffery Simmons adds another obstacle inside. He recorded a sack in Chicago’s 34-17 win at Seattle. If the Bears shut down early-down runs, Baker Mayfield will need to convert passing situations against a front capable of disrupting the pocket.
For Tampa Bay to stay inside this number, balance matters more than repeating last week’s rushing total. Productive throws can keep Chicago from crowding the line, and sustained possessions reduce the number of opportunities for Caleb Williams to pull away.
Injuries: Egbuka Is the Swing Decision
Tampa Bay’s Friday report rules out Yaya Diaby and lists Emeka Egbuka as questionable. Egbuka practiced fully Thursday and Friday, but those sessions do not erase his designation. Baker Mayfield and Tristan Wirfs have no game designation.
Chicago lists Kyle Monangai, Malik Muhammad and Tyrique Stevenson as questionable. Theo Benedet, Grady Jarrett and D’Marco Jackson have no designation on the Bears’ final report.
Diaby’s absence is a concern for Tampa Bay’s ability to pressure Williams. Egbuka’s availability matters on the other side, particularly with questions in Chicago’s secondary. Check the injury tracker and Sunday’s inactive lists before betting.
CLEATZ Pick Watch: Buccaneers +6.5 at -115 or Better
Conditional play: Tampa Bay +6.5, maximum price -115, provided Egbuka is active and there is no reported workload restriction. The displayed Novig -111 and FanDuel -115 meet the price requirement; the availability condition remains unresolved.
The case is for a competitive game, not necessarily a Tampa Bay upset. Mayfield and Wirfs carrying no game designation supports the passing-game outlook, and a balanced offense gives the Bucs a path to staying within six points.
The risk is clear: Chicago’s front stops the run, Tampa Bay falls behind the chains, and Williams benefits from Diaby’s absence. If Egbuka is out, pass pending a fresh assessment. I would also pass at +6 or at a price worse than -115 on +6.5.
This is an editorial matchup lean, not a model-calculated edge. The betting splits are supporting context, not the reason for the pick.
Total and Props: Keep the Weather in Perspective
I would pass on 47.5 for now. The forecast shows roughly 55 degrees, 10 mph wind and gusts near 22 mph. Gusts deserve another check, but this is not enough by itself to call for an under. Follow the NFL weather report closer to kickoff.
Monangai’s status could affect how Chicago distributes rushing work; Egbuka’s availability could change Tampa Bay’s target distribution. Avoid treating a teammate’s absence as an automatic prop over—prices can already account for it.
Compare the rushing props and receiving props after the active lists arrive. There is no need to manufacture a second pick.
For Traders: Price the Win Separately From the Cover
The lines board displays Chicago around 71% to win. That is not its probability of covering six or six and a half points. For illustration, a contract bought at 71 cents and paying $1 on a win is approximately equivalent to -245 before fees.
Compare the actual executable ask and available size with the sportsbook moneyline. Rounded win estimates, quoted odds and contract prices can differ, especially when captured at different times.
